Beats of Mind
This is a rhythm game that takes place in your head - in order to boost the signals of useful neurotransmitters from neuron to neuron, you gotta time your taps with the synapse! Currently this game is still in alpha and only contains a freeplay mode.
This is a game initially being made for our capstone project in college, and as such we are focusing on implementations of things over visual buffs, so we apologize if the graphics look like they were made in MS Paint (they were).
Most Recent Update:
(Alpha v0.1.2 - November 18, 2023)
- Added functionality for web to save scores. Now you can see a whole load of stuff that would show to literally nobody on web! This includes the score saving and highscore visual when playing an already completed chart. Shoot for the elusive S++ rank, if you dare.
- Tidied up some screens. The level select screen got a few positioning changes so now everything is nice and tidy. The results screen after completing a chart now hides some background elements and shows the actual name of the song! Woo!
- Added text that shows how close you were to the next rank. (This is at the results screen.) Now you can lie awake at night knowing you were EXACTLY 57 points away from greatness.
Plans For Future Updates:
- An inbuilt level editor. Every rhythm gamer's wet dream. This will hopefully be pretty helpful to both players and us to allow more charts to be made. Doing it manually is... a pain to say the least.
- A map akin to a story mode. The whole visual motif is based off of a narrative, but when the development high is from getting the thing working in the first place, that's not ready yet. Still cookin'.
Please leave (constructive) feedback in the comments! Keep in mind that we're still novel programmers, game designers, the whole nine. But experience comes with practice, so practice we must.
